An Electronic Music Pioneer with a Legacy of Excellence

Born in Johannesburg, Jon Sartor, better known as Jon S, has emerged as a leading figure in the South African house and techno music scene over the past 27 years. Driven by the early influences of Carl Cox, Todd Terry, and Armand Van Helden, Jon discovered his passion for house music when it was still an emerging genre. He quickly carved his own niche with a distinctive blend of deep and groovy house infused with a techno edge, a sound that remains his signature today.

Jon's journey began in the late 90s, captivating audiences at iconic underground parties like 'Squeeze' and 'Warehouse'. His unique sound resonated deeply with listeners, leading him to co-found 'All Good Productions' in 2000. This venture played a pivotal role in the burgeoning deep house scene in Johannesburg, showcasing both established and up-and-coming talent through top-quality house events. Their events attracted international names like Kaskade, DJ Vadim, Diesel Boy, and Harrison Crump, solidifying their reputation as key players in the scene.

As All Good Productions thrived, so did Jon's DJ career. Residencies at prominent clubs like Reality, Sublime, and @115 further established him as a force to be reckoned with. In 2001, he joined forces with fellow DJ Guy Herman to form the legendary duo, Pimp Squad. Their electrifying performances and undeniable technical skills quickly catapulted them to national prominence. They graced the decks of every major club and event in Johannesburg, and soon their popularity spread across the country. They embarked on national tours and in 2006, received the prestigious honor of touring with international house giants Mark Knight, Inland Knights, Jake Childs and Jason Hodges.

Pimp Squad solidified their place in the music industry with three acclaimed compilations. Their debut, 'Deeper Sound of Pimp Squad,' released through USM Records, showcased their deep house roots. Subsequent releases like 'Road Trip' explored new-skool sounds while retaining their signature style. Their third compilation, 'Electric Circus Vol. 1,' mixed for the iconic Truth nightclub, further cemented their legacy as tastemakers and skilled curators.

Since 2005, Jon has held a coveted residency at Truth Nightclub in Johannesburg, playing alongside some of the biggest names in dance music, including Stimming, &Me, Pleasurekraft, Hot Since 82, Victor Ruiz, Christian Löffler, Oliver Schories and many more. This residency has provided him with invaluable experience and the opportunity to refine his craft.

Today, Jon remains a vibrant force in the African underground scene. His passion for music, dedication to his craft, and undeniable talent continue to inspire audiences across the continent.
